Few different Questions :)

Hi Guys

Since it seems the game is going to be release next year I hope there is still time to consider few different things that might be of interest.

I am a huge fan of KoH1, when I first played it was able to move myself away from Med2 Total war due to it interesting mechanich (Real Time > Turn based game) and its different possibilities providing your kingdom many options over warfare.

Here few questions:

1)    Confederation: would it be possible for a superpower to “confederate” a smaller nation? I give you an example: i play as France and I am becoming the strongest kingdom in Europe… so instead of declaring war on Brittany, would just be possible to annex it without war ?

2)    After having sieged a settlement is it possible to chose also these options “Sack and leave” and “Raze it to the ground” ? In the first case it would remain bound to the kingdom i sieged but looted, in the second nothing remains but ruins. If another faction should take, they have to re-build it from zero.

3)    What about naval battles? Will they be un-playable for the player or are you planning a naval scenario too?

4.a)    In case of victory against a specific state, against a huge empire, would it be possible, as a victory condition, to impose them to grant indipendence to some specific region which will become our allies later ?

4.b)    Is there any chance that, after conquering a settlement/region we can create a puppet-state?

5)    Is it possible to plan, together with our allies, a coordinated attack to a specific city ?

6)    I have seen, in a past DevDiary, that is somehow possible to use Caravan to improvce trade. Would it be possible to use also boat for trade from a port to another ?

-    Since no map preview has been released we have only seen few parts of it. I believe there MUST be some very KEY-POINT to improve the game. I mean some regions that cannot remain empty, without a settlement to conquer, here my whishlist:
ICELAND, EAST COAST OF GREENLAND, FAROE ISLANDS, KIRKWALL (NORTHER SCOTLAND ISLANDS), ISLE OF MAN, GOTLAND / VISBY, AZORES ISLANDS, CANARY ISLANDS, NORTHERN PARTS OF SCANDINAVIA (plase dont cut the map here!!).

Thank you for your time
See ya

It appears that we are looking for first half next year for release.

1) There are mechanics for vassal-liege relations. We don't know much about it, but it is a form of diplomacy pacts. Mentioned in

https://community.knightsofhonor.com/index/dev-diaries/devdiary-12-–-diplomacy-part-1-–-wars-and-alliances-r20/

2) Can't rise a settlement completely. The ruins will stay on the map and will rebuild into a new settlement after some time.

3) We don't know about naval battles. Probably only auto resolve. As it is right now there are no "ships" in the game, only army which auto converts to ships to sail. So you never build specific ships or have war with ships vs ships instead of your normal land army

4) Don't know, probably not.

5) Probably not with AI allies. Obviously can do that in a multiplayer setting

6) Caravans are not physical, it is a selection of kingdoms you can trade with and they are traded outside you control. It does not matter how caravans travel to do the trade.

https://community.knightsofhonor.com/index/dev-diaries/devdiary-11-merchants-and-trading-r19/

7) I'm quite sure there won't be Iceland, Greenland Faroe Islands, Kirkwall, Azores and Canary in the game. The map is more expanded to North Africa and Caucasus Mountains regions

"It appears that we are looking for first half next year for release."

So sorry to hear that this game will take almost 3 years, let's hope it will be worthy waiting 🙂

1) ok got it

2) so there is no way to attack a settlement, raze it and leave only ruins behind us ? A settlement must always be Owned by a faction then?

3) ok

4) Damn. Especially creating puppet state or buffer state would be awsome.

5) ok

6) ok thanks

7) This is a sad news... Hope some modder can fix it. Leaving norther Europe out of the game will make it appear ... incomplete.

Thanks

I love these, especially 4! This could prevent weird map situations and also without that it would feel way too much like KoH1. It would be a cool way to carve large enemy empire without over extending your own borders. In KoH1 I have always had a problem with large enemies that just don't want to give up even tho I took all their strongest cities and only way is to conquer them entirely!

I also hope they add some provinces like those! Even Aegean Islands could be their own province (for the Duchy of Naxos) and fix some provinces borders like Papal States that what I saw don't look like what they looked like, in fact KoH1 is more accurate with the shape.

This is the final map i guess, from the last dev diary

Potrebbe essere un'immagine raffigurante mappa

Yes, that would be great to have the chance to sack and raze a settlement without occupying it.

Let's hope they read it 🙂

I see. Well I really hope we will be able to edit some borders and add provinces! While I support enlarging or shrinking parts of the world to fit on the map, Arabia is just shrinked too much! Although I like that Sahara is not just 2 provinces!

I think they should have included Iceland and a bit more of Scandinavia. They can just move it a bit south and Faroe islands should definitely be a province and islands just north of Britain. Although not sure of Isle of Man but it sounds neat for the complete Kingdom of the Isles. Greenland tho is very unlikely and even if included would be an empty area.

Overall the map seems nice!

Let's say that more than Iceland I would miss the half of Scandinavia, being "cut" like we see in the map is weired but in the end it wouldn't fit that much in the game logic.

I don't think we will see the Isle of Man or the Far Oer at this point.

By the way, the idea of sacking and raze a settlement leaving it abandoned should be taken in consideration by the Devs.

Understandable.

Well I hope there will be map editor so one can just add them as provinces.

I totally agree that devs should take that into consideration. It should be very damaging to cities and maybe a martial can specialise in destruction. Lets say that the city may even lose some buildings and have population drop. The surviving buildings should be damaged and would need money to repair.

Along with making puppet states or vassals out of conquered lands or maybe even restoring lands that were conquered by the enemy. For example Lithuania conquers Poland and I as Germany conquer Lithuania and decide to bring Poland back and maybe even Lithuania but now as a loyal state.

Wow! I never noticed how much developpers meant they distorded Arabia's peninsula... :classic_laugh:

Yes it really is a bit too much. I would honestly shrink it a bit but also expand the map too. On the topic of maps I wonder how will culture map look like. This is definitely the best thing about KoHII map, besides more provinces.

I also hope that in KoHII we will be able to restore Rome as Byzantium. It would be cool to play as Nicea and then Byzantium and then Roman Empire.

The devs explained they didn't want too much sort of empty land (or very large provinces which weren't that much populated). So yes, map expansion would be great, but only if essential I think.

By the way, the map link does not work for me, it seems the picture has been removed... I hope I didn't provoke any feeling of shame or blame to the team, because of my post. It wasn't the purpose. It just amused me to see how tiny Arabia was! I hope the devs laughed with us...

To be frank, they probably did. 🤗

Oh I hope they didn't take it personally!

The reason is understandable, no sane person wants to march over a wast desolate areas. But I feel that cutting off Scandinavia and Iceland is a bit too much of a sacrifice. Maybe not even all of Scandinavia can be included but also they can shrink it too, but not too much. Although this will open up north Russia... Maybe shrink it too along with northen Scandinavia?

But all in all the map seems exciting! Especially now that there is Malta and Rhodes.

Also too add something about Greenland, the south western coast is habitable. This will make most of the game map Atlantic ocean and will make western edges of the map very close to Newfoundland.

But I think even without Iceland Faroe Islands should definitely be a province. In KoH1 it was big enough for a castle. This will also make Norway not so isolated by only having relations with Denmark and Sweden.

There is no Far Oer I guess.

Iceland and Greenland are off the map... maybe a modder in the future could add some provinces.

I would like the team to consider more openly the chance of razing a settlement to the ground leaving it in ruins.

It would be a good option to weaken the enemy's Kingdom without putting all of your efforts in taking a city, re-building over it, converting people and all the "chain-steps" you are forced to follow

Yes. I think KoH1 had that option if your general was crusader. The other option was to create a vassal. This was the closest thing to creating a loyal state by yourself or liberating kingdom. I remember once Hungary was conquered by Bulgaria and pope called for a crusade. It was successful and it restored Hungary back on the map.
