How does this game calculate where to put the country name?

Its really annoying that the country appears to have 2 different names on separate continents. I know its natural when there is no land or sea connection, but it looks very ugly this way imo.

I think it would be better if 2 names rule was ignored here where landmasses are so close that it should be treated as 1 landmass rather than 2 separate ones. It would make sense to have 2 names if one doesn't control Constantinople, so it gives you map aesthetic reason to take over the city. I also think Sicily and south Italy should be treated as one landmass.
