I think Koh1 portraits were amazing, i really loved them, well i do understand it's a different style they are going for in Koh2, but i feel even if they polished the current ones, im not sure i'll like them any better.

They were amazing, portraits in KoH2 are step backward. I see shapeless and blurry faces, like in Lords of the Realm, which I played like 20 years ago.

I am absolutely attached to portraits of KoH1, and there was no really need to change them completely, just add more icons.

My first country in Koh 1 was Serbia, still remember the first time I opened the game back in 2009, the nostalgia is too damn high!

Why I picked Serbia, probably because I am from Serbia and that was probably the first time in my life I ever saw Serbia in a game, and that just made me feel awesome.
What was your first country in KoH and why?
Have you ever thought about what will be your first pick in KoH2 and why?

  3. I am not quite sure how the World map  will work, but here is my suggestion:

    • For example, Trebizond, as shown in map above this post, was a surviving part of Byzantine empire, and it consisted of several surrounding cities. Game would be much more fun if it looked similar to this. Creating a micro-world inside one smal state/province would be awesome. In KOH1 one could conquer for Bdin to Vienna in a relatively short time. My proposal - break the large provinces into little pieces so that world map change slowly and then it would be more realistic. I suggested something similar earlier in my topic Papacy
    • Adding islamic holy places was a good idea
    • Middle East - besides Jerusalem and Antioch, maybe there should be Acre, Edessa
    • Balkan Adriatic cost - I also asked this earlier, will there be a slavic city state Dubrovnik?
    • What about Hanseatic League?
    • Malta maybe?
    • As a player I injoyed a conquest, but after a while, I mostly liked playing within a historical boundaries of my state with a few territories conquered. Playing like that could lead to a problem, because you have to conquer a lot to have all kingdom advantages, so when playing with Jerusalem, you have to conquer in Balkans for example to obtain all desired advantages. Make all buildings possible  to build in every town - creating a microworld within your state.
    • One offtopic - playing with pagan nations was quite boring, because no bonuses are obtained, and no clerics are available (shamans could be added).

Would love to see their role more flushed out, maybe use Princessess as a "Good luck charm" (you send her to govern a town and her presence in that town increases happines and population rate). I   don't know🤷‍♂️ haha I'm just throwing some ideas out there 😂

Maybe even governing a monastery, which was a common practice in medieval times. Unmarried princesess often became nuns/abbess. Their appointance could eventualy lead to prosperity of province...

I agree with Camerlengo completely! Sovereign of Papacy should be current Pope.

Also, I love the idea of clerics in catholic nations going through some process of becoming cardinals. and the Pope to be elected from the class of cardinals.

    Hvala na podršci, druže!

    Pozdrav 😀

I remember that there was a way to speed up the game... some kind of cheat. And I remember that I used this every time I started a game. I think that it would be good if we can do this in the KoH 2 !

It is not a cheat. Just press + button a few times and it will speed up the game from 0,5 to 8.

so far so bad! i dont like these icons at all, did your artist died? because KoH first has great art style and i dont see it here.. also not good soldiers design at all, they look like RPG fantasy warrior not, not liking this for now..

I agree! Old icons/pictures of female/male nobility were awesome! I m quite atttached to them!

Appearance of the Wolrd Map is troublesome also! State name letters should be more stylish!

15.) Whenever you have a king who dies without heirs, there should be at least two generations of brothers or uncles that are available to become king. If a king dies with several sons, the others just disappear, which would not happen... unless they were specifically killed. Also, this could be used to incorporate politics into the game... do certain brothers, uncles, etc. plot to kill off competitors for the crown? Do other kingdoms try to cause chaos in a kingdom by plotting to support claimants other than the rightful heir? Do wives plot to kill their husbands to elevate their lovers to power?

    - When I play the game, in time I try to replace all the Royal Court with my sons (ofcourse it cannot always be done, as this issue is completely random) and in that way eliminate possibility of spies entering my Court.

You said "If a king dies with several sons, the others just disappear" - just put them all in yout Royal Court untill you fill it with your sons.  It seems that marriage with  an ordinary noblewoman is much more fertile, than marrying a foreign princess. Note this - throught history even the most biggest dinasties did eventually vanish in form of succession (no male heir) so can be in KoH1/2.

"Do wives plot to kill their husbands to elevate their lovers to power?" - it would be too much complicated to have this thing.

16.) Speaking of wives, they should have skills, as well, which can come into play in the game, or at least enhance the skills of a king.

Wives should have bigger role but in other way. Maybe in form of culture (marrying a foreign princess brings her culture to the Royal Court - because these things really happened in history). One thing also - there should be higher possiblity of marring neighboring princess with same religion rather than marrying distant princesess (english prince marrying french/spanish/german princess and viceversa. It should be unlikely - but not impossible - following thing to happen german prince marrying princes from Kazan/Ottomans/Georgia as this never happened in Europian history)-

17.) The older a building is, the more maintenance it should cost. Without maintenance, a building will weaken and eventually collapse. I AGREE

18.) PLEASE do NOT incorporate gun powder into the game. It is just a mess when middle ages games add gunpowder. In real life, the middle ages "quickly" end with the advent of gun powder and you end up with an entirely different kind of game. AGREE ON THIS ONE ALSO

13.) Some resources, like fertile fields, should be able to be created, or at least created when there are available slots if you want to keep that limit. Others, like specific mineral deposits (salt, silver, etc.) cannot be created where they don't exist. Also, things like mineral deposits have finite amounts in them. They can all be given secret limits on how much can be taken out of them before they disappear. Maybe they can start to slow down as those limits are approached in ways that the player can learn about. When they disappear, they will not only destroy buildings dependent on those resources, they will also hurt that city's economy if it doesn't have other industries to rely on. It would also be nice if resources in at least some small way conformed to actually locations. For example, France and England should be full of fertile fields, and pastures, while they should be rare in the middle east and north Africa.

Resources must be distributed random, otherwise nobody will want to play Norway, Fatimids or Novgorod, because of their lack of resources.

19.) PLEASE give us a pause function, or at least an option to use a pause function in our game. Again, as the kingdom gets bigger, I have a need to slow down the sensory input and make calm evaluations of how things stand. In pause, I should be able to look at the map, look at my own territories, make orders to be given when I start the game again, or even put a limit on how many orders can be given at one time in a territory or to a person. This has been a real problem for me when I have a bunch of enemies attack me at the same time in different locations and, while I deal with those enemies, I cannot also make governing decisions for other locations, or even look at those other locations. I get headaches, I get sensory overload, and I stop getting any enjoyment from the game and just quit at that point. Please give some consideration to players whose minds operate differently. The game doesn't have to be turn-based, just allow us to stop it and catch our breaths, or make informed decisions.

There is a PAUSE button. Just press Pause/Break button on keyboard and game will be paused.

Or You can press MINUS - several times untill it gets to the 0,5 and game things will be happening really slow.

  11. I suggest one more option - to choose one member of Royal Court (cleric, merchant, marshall, diplomat or spy) as advisor/majordomo (mayor of the palace).

Choosing one of these is choosing foreign policy and by choosing him we multiply chances in succes in that field. For other kingdoms it can be chosen randomly. He may have his own slot color different from others.

His role can also be inheriting the throne after king dies childless. In that way we can not only choose heir, but preventing several things such as:

    • skilled marshal becoming kings and then aging and eventually dying
    • chaos and anarchy leading to colapse of kingdom.
  12. In my opinion a sovereign of Papacy should be curent Pope (not the Doge, as it used to be because they didn't rule Papacy) which is elected as most educated cleric among the catholic nations as it was before.

Papacy could consist of several cities around Rome (5 for example - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donation_of_Pepin).

Educated clerics in catholic nations may go through some process of becoming cardinals (when they gain some knowledge, convert province, pay some money to Papacy) and when Pope dies a new could be elected only from cardinals. Blue field when cleric is elected for cardinal can become red.

Donation to catholic church that existed in old game should stay and be called  - St. Peter's Pence

Kingdoms which are donating often should have higher possibilty for their cleric/cardinal of becoming Pope.

Elected Pope can stay in Royal court of country where he is from just as it was before , but his picture should appear as a reigning sovereign when clicked on Papacy.

When Papacy is completely eliminated, the one state which liberates it should give Pope and + relations to all catholic kingdoms as before.

*It would be great if all knights could advance in their fields not only clerics becoming bishops/cardinals/popes in catholic kingdoms, or mitropolits/patriarch in orthodox, mula or reis-ul-ulema in islam.

Marshal could become senechal/admiral/general/tactician through battles, merchants could become trader, marketer, economist, capitalist or specialize in trading for something that was not part of their duties in earlier version of game such as glass or gold (there are no gold mines in KoH1, only silver - just sayin 😀), spies could become masters of espionage/assasination/sabotage/camouflage/intrigue, diplomats could become ministers, ambassador even maybe and be sent to countries in order to achieve some goal. All of these 5 classes could be upgraded through - money, experience, time spent in position, success in perforimg tasks.

  13. Besides Epirus, I love playing with Teutonic Order and Palatinate (and retake provinces which are neccessary in order to reunite Holy Roman Empire).

When I play catholic kingdom, I like having Pope in my Royal court, just for fun. Papacy should maybe have more teritories arround Rome.

Promoting clerics to bishops, before them becoming Popes would be awesome.

    I like religion interfering politics.

Favorite nation for me is Golden Horde. Those steppe and mongolian cavalry was too op 😋

When I play Golden Horde, I usually like to convert to orthodox religion as soon as conquer first orthodox city nearby. It is much more interesting that way, you have a patriarch, he is getting old, then u pick a new one...

My favourite nation to play... Of course Epirus. Coz of the flag colour(Todays Greek colours) and the orthodox relegion.

Epirus is one of my favorites too. I am historian and absolutely love Byzantine history. I take Epirus, do reconquista, reunite Byzantia + I have patriarch, which is not possible when playing with Byzantia/Nicaea.

  16. In my opinion this greatest game ever would be even more perfect if Byzantia had ecumenical patriarch and independent church. In game only orthodox state without patriarch is Byzantia. Make this possible pls 😀
