    While I cover many subjects, the book focuses on how Tolkien's political, religious, and environmental views affected his mythology. One theme that runs through the entire book is Tolkien's Medievalism. I liken him to a Medieval peasant/scholar who was out of place living in the modern world. By learning about Tolkien and Middle Earth, you will also learn about prominent Medieval thinkers as they were the same.     I think it should be a rare occurrence. Perhaps a trait could allow certain Imams or priests to debate, and when two opposing beliefs have a charector in the same providence with those traits, they could agree to debate. 

  3. Groups like the Dominicans, Franciscans, scholastic scholars and yes Inquisitors went around debating heretics, Jews, and Muslims in an attempt to convert them. Saint Francis traveled all the way to Egypt just to pick a theological fight with Muslims.

    In Med 2 TW the only option you had as a priest or bishop regarding a heretic in your lands was to try them and either burn them, or they might convert you . Perhaps there could be an option where you could offer a debate with a heretic, or Imam and the winner might convert part of the population if they win.

    Another example (also to be found in TW series) is the AI focusing on the player even though he is just one of many threats and by far not the biggest one. That becomes worse if all AI realms do that. Again this is annoying and immersion-killing.

    This artificial difficulty reduces fun by a lot, so I hope you can avoid this completely.

     

    Ahh tw AI, part of why I dont play TW anymore. But this game (KOH2) has the best AI (and the only AI I really plan on playing), that is other humans in campaign MP. Not really AI but you get what i am saying.... i hope.

    How about your cleric dies, is named a Saint, and you get a one-off bonus of piety?  Easier to programme, and a nice flavour-thing.

    I could go for that as part of a larger DLC.

    Sounds good 2 me. I was just thinking of some way it could be included to add to the immersion of the game.

    Yeah, that is what I am saying. So they would be sainted after the death of your agent so the boost would come later.

In Medieval 2 TW you upgraded your priest to become a bishop who could then "rank up" based on his ability to convert other religions, convict heretics etc.  It would be fantastic if you had a high-ranking bishop or monk that could later be declared a saint, and if he/she declared one, the providence they were from would gain a boost in piety or something like that. 

     

  8. Relics played a prominent role in the Medieval world. For example, in Medieval Total war, while on crusades, you could discover certain religious relics such as the true cross when you take the correct cities. Could anything like this be implemented in future KOH2 expansions?

  9.  Reading various books on feudal history from 800-1300, I keep coming across "The Banner of the Holy Roman Church." It was carried into battle as a symbol of Papal favor. It was not only used in crusades or against heritcs but in various wars between Christian (or excommunicated) lords where the Church endorsed one side. I guess it would give a nice moral boost to the army that carried it, believing they were on God's side. Is there any chance of something like this being incorporated into the game?
